The Cyclone

Your Brooklyn car rental trip to Astroland won’t be complete unless you take a ride on its most popular ride The Cyclone! Since it first opened in 1927, this ride has become the amusement park industry’s most famous, more occupied and most copied individual ride! When this monumental wooden-tracked twister was designed it was forced to be exceptionally tight and steep because of the small ground space that was available. This wooden coaster sits at 75 feet by 500 feet on the ground, and is 85 feet tall. Once you sit down you are in for quite a ride! The ride lasts for approximately 1 minute and 50 seconds and can hold up to 24 passengers. Racing at over 60 miles per hour, you will fly over 2600 feet of track, with 12 drops, 6 180 degree turns, 18 crossovers and 27 elevation changes!! It won’t take you long to figure out why they call this The Cyclone!

Take the Belt Parkway to exit 6. Head south on Cropsey Avenue to West 17th Street. Keyspan Park and the Parachute Jump will be in front of you on Surf Avenue.
